Internet banking security tips
31 January 2008
Using your home computer for internet banking can be a great time saver but it can also turn into a big headache if your computer is compromised and you are the victim of fraud.
Some things you can do to help prevent becoming a statistic is to ensure that your personal internet banking logon details are safe and secure at all times.
- Never logon to Internet Banking via an email link.
- Never reply to emails that ask for your personal credit card/debit card or any access and account numbers and passwords. No bank will ask you for these details in an email.
- Make sure that you are protected from viruses and trojans by keeping your anti virus software up to date. Installing a firewall if you don't have one and anti-spyware are also recommended.
- Check that the padlock at the bottom of the page shows that you are at a safe and secure web site.
